In reality, Domeki and Himawari aren't particularly interested in each other romantically at all. In fact, the person Domeki and Himawari are both interested in is quite likely Watanuki himself.. And Doumeki marries his and Watanuki's common friend Kohane Tsuyuri, who's also hinted to be in love with Watanuki, presumably to comfort each other and have descendants that will keep Watanuki company afte their deaths.
